If you’ve found yourself curled up through the winter, it’s time to uncoil, open the shutters, stretch toward the sun, and embrace the light and lightness of spring.
Through dedicated and consistent practice, the Yoga Sutras speak of extraordinary abilities that may arise known as the siddhis. Among these, Lagima and Garima represent the qualities of lightness and heaviness, respectively.
These two characteristics often reveal themselves both in asana and in life inviting us to cultivate levity where there is weight and groundedness where there is lightness. This interplay beautifully mirrors the union of mobility and stability within sadhana, our ongoing practice.
Open to all levels, we will explore this vital interplay inherent in a range of asanas — standing poses, back extensions, arm balances and more with adaptable pathways for every body and experience!
Health is simply a by-product of proper yoga practice. Through iconic alignment of asana (physical postures) and pranayama (breath work) we can fortify stability and mobility to keep mobile and endure what may not be able to be cured.
Garth offers his years of experience steeped in compassionate exploration and incorporating a creative, adaptive approach to encourage, elevate and empower students of all levels of ability with and without physical challenges to go beyond any perceived limitations of the body and mind. Garth’s goal is to help provide all practitioners with tangible, practical tools to further enhance your health.
All are welcome. Seasoned practitioners as well as those with physical challenges are welcome, but need to have 1 year of experience with Iyengar Yoga.
